Zoho Vault Alternative
for Technical Teams

Zoho Vault works well if you're already in the Zoho ecosystem. If you're not, or if your team manages SSH keys and API credentials, SealedKeys is built for that job. An honest comparison.

Where SealedKeys differs

Works without the Zoho ecosystem

Zoho Vault is designed to integrate with Zoho CRM, Zoho Projects and the rest of the Zoho suite. If your team doesn't already use Zoho, you're paying for integrations you'll never use. SealedKeys is purpose-built as a standalone secrets vault.

Dedicated SSH and API key types

Zoho Vault stores all credentials as generic password entries. SealedKeys has dedicated SSH key and API key field types with the right fields for each — key name, environment, fingerprint, associated service.

EU Hetzner hosting by default

Zoho's infrastructure is primarily based in India and the US. SealedKeys runs on Hetzner EU servers on all plans — relevant for UK GDPR and EU data residency requirements without needing an enterprise agreement.

TOTP in-vault generation

SealedKeys includes TOTP two-factor authentication code generation in the vault on all plans. Zoho Vault does not include in-vault TOTP generation.

Cyber Essentials certified

SealedKeys is UK Cyber Essentials certified with a published May 2026 penetration test. Zoho Vault is not Cyber Essentials certified — relevant for UK government supply chain work.

Where Zoho Vault has the advantage

Deep Zoho ecosystem integration

If your team already uses Zoho CRM, Zoho Projects or other Zoho products, Zoho Vault's integrations are a real advantage — single vendor, unified billing, SSO across the suite.

Browser extension and mobile apps

Zoho Vault has browser extensions and mobile apps with auto-fill. SealedKeys is currently web-only — no browser extension or mobile app yet.

Lower entry price

Zoho Vault Standard starts around £1/user/month. If you need only basic password storage and already use Zoho, the entry price is lower than SealedKeys Pro.

Frequently asked questions

Is Zoho Vault actually zero-knowledge?+

Zoho Vault claims client-side encryption, but Zoho is a large, India-based corporation with a wide product portfolio. SealedKeys is a dedicated secrets management product. The encryption implementation for SealedKeys is published on GitHub and was independently tested in May 2026 with zero exploitable findings. Zoho Vault does not publish equivalent independent verification.

Can I import my Zoho Vault credentials into SealedKeys?+

Yes. Export your Zoho Vault data as a CSV file and import it into SealedKeys using the generic CSV importer. Login entries map directly. Items you've stored as notes or custom entries will need to be moved to the appropriate secret type after import.

Does SealedKeys integrate with the Zoho suite?+

No. SealedKeys does not integrate with Zoho CRM, Zoho Projects or other Zoho products. If Zoho ecosystem integration is a core requirement, Zoho Vault is the right choice.

What is Zoho Vault's data residency situation?+

Zoho's primary data centres are in India and the US, with EU options available on Enterprise plans. For UK and EU organisations with data residency requirements, this matters. SealedKeys stores all data on Hetzner EU infrastructure by default on all plans — no Enterprise plan required.

Why would a technical team choose SealedKeys over Zoho Vault?+

The main reasons: dedicated SSH key and API key field types (Zoho Vault has none), EU hosting by default, TOTP generation in-vault, Cyber Essentials certification, and a focus purely on secrets management rather than being one module in a broader business suite. If your team manages infrastructure credentials, Zoho Vault's generic password fields are a significant gap.
